Drawing and Painting Fundamentals Instructor: Melinda Roeleveld Dates: starts - 04/02/07 (eight Monday afternoons ) Times: 3:30 - 6:00 PM Cost: $195 Course: # C030272 In this course, students of all levels are welcome to come learn to see and interpret form through drawing and painting the still life, landscape and human head. In this class, Whether you are wanting to get back into art, or whether you need to go to the next level in your development. Melinda will work with each student individually besides doing demos. This is also a great introductory class for those who haven't had the chance to learn to draw or paint from life. We will deal with perspective, learning to see value shapes, true color as it relates to value, and also learn to "see" the painting in front of us (compositional issues). Learning to mix correct color values and intensities, placing them on the canvas at the right time in the right place is also challenging. There is no magic formula to becoming the artist you want to become, but we will help you get a step closer to understanding the artistic truths seen in the works of the Old Masters. Call with any questions. Ages 18 + of all levels welcome. (Following the class is an Open Drawing Session from 6:30 to 9 PM, open to all). Click here to view the artist's website |

"Painting the Figure and Portrait in Watercolor" Many are afraid to attack the challenge of the watercolor portrait or figure, but with award-winning painter, Li Dongfeng, you will see it is not only possible, but fun and exciting. Painting the human body presents a number of challenges, including getting correct proportions, value shapes, angles, etc. Not only will you learn about portraiture in this class, but you will learn about what makes a good painting and how watercolor can be used effectively to create an excellent painting. Coming to us from mainland China, Li brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. Without sacrificing the fundamentals of excellent painting principles, students will learn to use the watercolor medium to express form seen when light flows across the human body. Students will learn to paint warm and cool skin tones seen in the light, medium and dark areas as well as learn to handle the watercolor medium in the most efficient yet exciting means possible. Li Dongfeng received his Master of Art Education in 1994 and got his Masters of Fine Arts in painting & drawing in 2005. He has been teaching drawing, painting and watercolor for more than 12 years in U.S. and conducting many painting workshops nationally since 1996. |
