"Painting Buildings and Homes in Watercolor"
Instructor: Melinda Roeleveld (www.thewatercolorhouse.com)
Dates: Friday, January 13th (evening) and
Saturday January 14 th (all day), 2007
Times: 6:30 to 9:30 pm on Friday and
9:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturday.
Cost: $195 non-members, $175 Guild members. Limited partial scholarships available.

This is a crash course in learning how to render accurately and artistically a home or building.Using the medium of watercolor, students will not only learn the particulars of what makes a good architectural rendering, but also what makes a good painting. Principles of good composition, perspective issues, planning the painting and helpful watercolor techniques will be addressed as students work on their own unique home or building to be painted. Students need to come with good resource materials (photographs of the home or building they wish to work on) as well as other basic supplies.
Besides watching a demonstration of all that's involved in creating a successful architectural landscape watercolor, students will receive individual instruction throughout the two days. Due to time restraints, we will work fairly small (8x10). A supply list will be sent after you register. For questions, feel free to call the artist at 636 346 4927.
Class size is limited to 15.

Bob Rohm

Bob Rohm: plein air workshop
Date: April 23-27, 2007; 9 AM - 4 PM

Pastel & Oil
Landscape - Plein Air & Studio
Cost: $575

Bob's fresh, informative workshops are an intensive period of work, study, and FUN that have been enthusiastically received by both beginner and advanced students.

The first day begins with a short lecture and demonstration emphasizing the simplicity of how a painting works and the procedures to create one. The entire painting process is covered, from the application of the medium, to achieving clean color, good value relationships and balanced compositions. Special attention will be placed on learning to see masses as opposed to line, and form rather than detail. Focus will also be on how to accurately simplify the colors and values of the main shapes. Techniques designed to complete “Alla Prima” paintings.

Bob works individually with each student at their easel and guides them at their own level and in their own style. Students may work in oils or pastels. There will be lots of painting time and individual attention. Through out the week Bob will do painting demonstrations and critiques. “What’s important to me, as a teacher, is to share what I’ve learned with my students.”

This workshop will be conducted both in the studio and, “en plein air”, on location and is for anyone interested in learning to develop creative, painterly paintings with clean, rich color and dynamic compositions.
